Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s popularity would not help the All Progressives Congress (APC) win the upcoming governorship elections in the state.
Wada also said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he belongs to, is the most popular in the state.
The governor made the
comments on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the PDP’s national
headquarters where he went to pay for his nomination for
Wada said:
“You could observe
that while Buhari won the presidential election in Kogi state, PDP
clearly won the state assembly positions. That shows that PDP is clearly
on the ground in the state.”
“You can see the
number of people that came here to support me, I did not invite anybody,
that shows that the PDP is alive in Kogi. By the grace of God, we will
win the forthcoming election.”
“No doubt, having the
APC president will have impact on the election, I am confident that our
people will vote massively for PDP. Definitely, Buhari’s popularity
won’t help the APC.”
