Ondo State government has denied rumours of influx of Boko Haram
insurgents in some parts of the state, saying the state remains one of
the most peaceful in the country.
Commissioner for Information, Hon Kayode Akinmade, while reacting to
the rumour, said the security of the state was not threatened as
rumoured.
Speaking with journalists in Akure, Akinmade said the threat of Boko
Haram insurgents in the state was a ploy by some unscrupulous elements to create tension and atmosphere of fear among the people,
The commissioner who insisted that the state remains the safest and
most peaceful in the country, noted that there was no record of insurgency in any part of the state.
He added that the police and other security agencies in the state
often hold security meetings to avert insecurity in the state.
Akinmade stated that the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko approved all security meetings held in the state.
According to him “it is misleading and unfortunate that some people
will allude the reason for a regular meeting on security matters in the
state to the imaginary influx of Boko Haram members.
